PoppyHarp

Just finished reading Simon Avery's superb first novel, PoppyHarp and I urge you all to read it. Avery is an incredible writer whose stories graced the pages of many issues of Black Static. His novella The Teardrop Method was one of the stand alone series of novellas published by TTA, and to my mind, easily the best of them.

A further collection of 4 novellas, A Box Full of Darkness, was published by Black Shuck Books in 2021, who also published a further novella, Sorrowmouth in 2022. His is a distinctive and decidely humane voice and his work, inflected by horror and slipstream, is almost a genre unto itself.

To get an idea of just how good PoppyHarp is, read my review at Everybody's Reviewing here.
